Nut Free and Soy Free Vegan Cheese in New Zealand

If you're dairy free and also avoid nuts or soy, finding cheese can be hard. Many vegan cheeses are made from cashews, almonds or soy. That rules them out for people with those allergies, for many school lunchboxes, and for families managing more than one allergy.

Why Nudairy's is different

Every Nudairy's product is free from dairy, nuts, soy and gluten. Our cheese is made from coconut oil, starches and water instead, in our own dedicated dairy free facility in Auckland. It's halal certified by NZIDT and certified vegan with the Vegan Society.

A note on coconut: coconut isn't treated as a tree nut under New Zealand allergen labelling rules, and most people with tree nut allergies can eat it. If you or your child reacts to coconut, check with your doctor first.

The range

  • Mozzarella: shreds and block, for pizza, pasta and toasties

  • Tasty: block, for toasties, burgers and cheese boards

  • Cheddar: block, slices and shreds, for nachos, bakes and lunchboxes

  • Feta: block, for salads and platters

  • Sour Cream: tub, for nachos, tacos and baked potatoes

  • Cream Cheese: tub, for bagels, dips and cheesecake

Reading labels

Allergen information on New Zealand food labels has to be shown clearly in bold in the ingredient list and in a summary statement. When you're checking a vegan cheese, look for nuts (such as cashew or almond) and soy in both places. Also check for a "may contain" statement if you need to avoid traces.
